Where to spend night in Salem Virginia - Everly Nixon travel guide?
Nothing is better than recreation in the wild outside Salem Virginia. If you are a fan of camping stay focused on the following things. If you are in Caldwell Fields Campground there should be a concrete pad for parking but you should never forget painkillers.
This will give you some peace of mind before the night begins. Also try out the "Night in the Woods" area for some great rock climbing. If you have the stomach to try the "Belly Dancing" area for a good night out at the ballpark and the "Belt-O-Dance" area is also excellent. If you are on a camping excursion, then visit W.E.B. Du Bois Trail or The Old Route Trail.
These trails are two of the best in the state for hiking. They also lead into the beautiful woods of South Salem. For more info about these trails please click here .
The first time I visited the "Belly Dancing" area it was an excellent night. The only problem was I had to stop at the trail heads to take pictures! If I had a camera my night would be just as memorable, if not more so.
The Old Route Trail If you decide to go to W.E.B. Du Bois (not sure what to call it?) you will be able to see a lot of old Route Trails and then climb to the top of the highest mountain at the top of the Old Route and you see what happens there.
It's so beautiful to see the trees grow back and to have views like that. You can also see a great view of The Bigle's Dome. It's a great place to see the Red River and all the things the Red River does.
The Blue Ridge Parkway The Blue Ridge Parkway is a nice way to travel between places. It starts right at the top of Mount Pleasant, then it's on to the South East part of the city. It's about 4 miles from the entrance to Red River National Wildlife Refuge, about 2 miles from the parking lot for the W.E.B. Du Bois trailhead.
On campsite you will need a few things. Except lamp you should take with you a torch (flashlight-torch). If you use a water bottle it should be big enough, if not you can find at a nearby village.
You will need a sleeping bag, you can use your sleeping bag, mattress and pillow from home but if you do not have one there are plenty of sleeping bags in Vietnam. You will also need socks for winter time. If there is a wind, it will be good to take an umbrella.
You will need a map. Most places that you will go are not much off from the airport and bus station, or very close if you choose Saigon-Ho Chi Minh Vietnam: A Guide and Map.
You can go to many places by train, but to get really to the interior of Vietnam and the more offsides provinces take a short flight to them Vietnam is very cheap, and you have a choice where to stay. Prices are pretty good, especially if you choose Saigon or Ho Chi Minh.
Vietnam is the perfect destination for the traveler because Vietnamese don't really speak English, but you will travel a little bit with Vietnamese people, and you should learn a little words of Vietnamese, they will communicate themselves so much easier and there are no language problems when you go to other countries. If you choose to go to Vietnam for the first time, you should choose Ho Chi Minh city.
